Joseph Diego "Jody" Gerut (born September 18, 1977 in Elmhurst, Illinois) is a right fielder who currently plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He attended Stanford University. He manufactured his major league debut inside April 26, 2003 with the Cleveland Indians. Jody was acquired per Cubs from either a Cleveland Indians on July 18 2005 in exchange for Jason Dubois. He is referred to as an fantabulous defender, & might play left field, right field, and center field. In July 31 2005, Gerut was acquired by the Pirates around exchange for fellow outfielder Matt Lawton, just minutes prior to a trade deadline.
